We found Poacher’s Cabin back in 2010 whilst on holiday in the Perigord Vert, a lovely rural, quiet part of France, known for its woodland, lakes and rolling countryside. Back then it was just a fishing hut, but for us its magic was where it was, tucked away in a woodland clearing and by its own lake: A tranquil haven for wildlife – and for us!
Over the years the once basic fishing hut has transformed into a little off-grid paradise, a tiny home from home, thanks to the craftsmanship and skill of lots of wonderful people.
Furniture is hard to find for a small space that is unique. The cabin is made from wood, with some lime and straw plaster. We wanted furniture that was comfortable, hard-wearing and beautiful, that would last and age along with the natural interior of the cabin.
I have collaborated with Indigo Furniture for many years. The craftsmanship is excellent, the designs classic and the furniture they make I think of as heritage pieces – that are going to last a lifetime. The Grandad Leather sofa and vintage armchair are perfect additions to our beautiful bolthole.
