Poachers Cabin, France

Poacher's Cabin is a beautifully restored fishing cabin nestled in the woods at the edge of it's own private lake.

You're sure to discover why Kate and her husband Ludo fell in love with this tumbledown fishing shack on their holiday wanderings. Spend your days lazing by the lake, walking in the woods or visit the local market. When the lights go down you can turn on the tea-light chandelier (made from twinkly glass yoghurt pots) and cosy up on the sofa with a book from the library.

In Brief

  1. Hand crafted cabin which sleeps 2
  2. Two rooms: living area and kitchen downstairs; double bedroom upstairs.
  3. Off-grid: solar powered shower wet room (the wood burner gives it a boost); dry compost loo; solar-powered lights.
  4. Down a rough track in the woods – park at the top and it’s a ten-minute walk, but you’ll be met and taken down on arrival.
  5. Private lake: great for swimming and there’s a raft for paddling.
  6. In the heart of the Périgord-Limousin national park, surrounded by forest and farmland and criss-crossed by off road cycle and walking paths.
  7. Close to caves, chateaux and vineyards and there’s a weekly market in the nearby town of Piegut-Pluviers.
