Join Kate for Galapagos Day 2026

8th October - 6:00 pm - 1 Wimpole Street, London, W1G 0AE

Should you go to Galapagos? It’s the question Galapagos Conservation Trust is asked most often — and the answer is complex.

Galapagos is extraordinary, with a magic that stays with visitors long after they leave. Yet 50 years of rapid tourism growth have transformed the islands’ social, political and environmental landscape.

Tourism supports conservation and local communities, but rising visitor numbers are straining waste systems, worsening water and food insecurity, and increasing the risk of invasive species. The traditional tourism model now threatens the nature it relies on.

So, should tourists stay away — or can a new approach help people and nature thrive? Join the Galapagos Conservation Trust for an inspiring evening hosted by Kate Humble as we celebrate Galapagos wildlife and explore how we can protect it.

Doors open at 6pm, talks run from 7pm to approximately 8:30pm, and the event closes at 10pm after networking and stand visits.

Tickets are on sale now for £30, or £10 for students. Last year sold out, so book early — every ticket helps fund vital conservation work in Galapagos.

An evening with … Tim Ecott

20th November - 7:30 pm - Book-ish, 18 High Street, Crickhowell, NP8 1BD

An island without a harbour, encircled by perilous cliffs and rising high above the wild Atlantic ocean, farmed by the same family for eight generations. What is it like to live at the edge of the world?

Eva and the Island. Life at the Loneliest Farmhouse in the World by Tim Ecott - In this marvel of quiet reflection and keen observation, Tim takes the reader to Stóra Dímun – an isolated island farm in the Faroe Islands with only two permanent residents. He finds a remarkable way of living; one where you’re isolated but never truly alone, surrounded by remarkable wildlife and an ever-changing landscape. On the island, every day is spent breathing fresh air, managing your livestock and continuing the work begun by your forebears hundreds of years ago. Here, time blurs – technology may encroach, but traditions are engrained.

Tracking the rhythm of the year and the challenges of life on this island, this book is a celebration of both the human spirit and our relationship with the natural environment. It is about sustainability, resilience and how to survive and adapt when the world is rushing headfirst into a digital future of artificial intelligence and anonymous food chains. Eva and the Island is a call to anyone who has ever dreamt of an island of one’s own.

Join Kate at Book-ish in Crickhowel, as she talks to Tim, a former BBC World Service correspondent, about the book, followed by audience Q&A and book signing.

£12 without book or £19 with book.

Join Kate on a trail through Botswana that few have ever walked

29th April to 5th May - Botswana

Join Kate Humble on an extraordinary journey through Botswana, following a trail few have ever walked.

Travelling from the Okavango Delta to the ancient Tsodilo Hills, the first trip in Africa to connect two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, you'll discover Botswana beyond the traditional safari, where landscapes, cultures and untamed biodiversity reveal themselves step by step.

This is not a race. It's a chance to move through one of Africa's last great wildernesses at a human pace, sharing a unique adventure with a small group of like-minded travellers. Along the way, you'll experience remote communities, ancient heritage and the extraordinary natural beauty that makes this corner of Botswana so special.

Whether you're drawn by adventure, wildlife, culture or simply the opportunity to explore somewhere few people ever see on foot, this is a rare chance to experience Botswana differently.

Dates are 29th - 5th May 2027 for the 6 night safari and trail itinerary. Or 1st - 5th May for the 4 night trail only itinery - both hosted by Kate and founder of Cirrcular, Rebecca Cook.

Read in Runner World how Kate conquered her first ultramarathon through Botswana, running off the beaten path in the Okavango to Tsodilo Ultra-Trail. https://www.runnersworld.com/uk/events/a71506294/kate-humble-100k-ultra-africa/
