WELCOME TO WALES
Before we get on to the news Kate would like to apologise because until now this website has been very out of date. Her excuse? A handsome new dog - Badger (photo coming soon). At the end of last year Kate and her husband Ludo moved not just to a new house, but to a new country!
They now live in Wales, deep in the countryside, something they have both wanted to do for a very long time. Something else they have wanted for many years is a dog, but in London with a tiny patch of garden, it wasn’t really possible. Not long after moving to Wales they went to the local RSPCA centre and found a little, bouncy, black and white mongrel, who had been neglected and starved and would certainly be dead if the RSPCA hadn’t rescued him. They named him Badger and he has completely taken over their lives! Badger and Kate will be appearing together to promote the RSPCA’s Pet Adoption Week later in the year.
As well as Badger they also have three hens, two geese, a cockerel called Roger and a gander called Gary. All seemed to have settled in very well and all the hens and the geese are laying.(Kate has kept a brief diary since moving which you will soon be able to read on the diary page of the website.)

THE HOTTEST PLACE ON EARTH
In November last year Kate joined a team of scientists and spent three weeks living in one of the most remote and hostile places on earth, the Danakil Depression in Ethiopia. During that time the team walked for three days in temperatures topping 40 degrees centigrade with the camel caravans of the local salt traders to reach the salt mines. They climbed Erte Alle, a volcano with an open lake of moulten lava and lived with the Afar tribe, people famed for being some of the toughest and most hostile in Africa. The series will be broadcast on BBC 1 later in the year.
